If anyone is still looking for a workaround, this will work. Open your game, when it is at the screen that says "No Steam" and "Quit", hit the ~ button to open command console, then either write or copy and paste this:
map sp_a1_intro1
It should start you from the beginning. Save your game whenever you are done playing, and the next time you open the game, go to command console again and type:
Load
Then hit space and click the first suggestion to load your saved game. Enjoy!
